This is an excellent book for anyone interested in the bottoming part of BDSM. It encourages, informs, and empowers bottoms. The authors make it plain that: No, you are not crazy. No, bottoming does not mean that you are powerless or weak. No, you are not alone. Yes, it is ok to want this!

Every now and then, over the course of the year and a quarter that I've been exploring BDSM, I've stumbled across a perfect gem: an author who voices my own unspoken thoughts more clearly than I ever thought possible. Susun Weed's newest book is a much-needed look at healing for Down There for women & men.

Sexual & reproductive health can be a shady part of taking care of ourselves - a lot of painful emotions to deal with, in addition to trying to get help from doctors. I love Susun Weed's work because she's so respectful to the body's processes of healing. Her approach starts out at the tiniest level of do nothing & gather information, and moves gradually toward more invasive measures if healing is still necessary. She addresses emotions, she speaks up for the organs in our bodies so we can get to know them better, and she offers hope - no matter what sort of challenge she's talking about in each chapter.

I highly recommend this book, especially if you feel frustrated with doctors, an issue that's not healing, or using pills for every solution.

Finally a deeper perspective
After having tried different kinds of books and therapy which mainly is focusing on the technical aspects of sex with little success or progress, I feel that this book really goes behind the technical and offers a more complete explanation as to why some people have a difficult relationship with sex.

In comparison to other books that seem to tell you that if you have difficulty with sex you must have been sexually abused as a child, this book offers a more complete analysis and makes you think of little things and details which along the way might have caused you to find sex difficult, but in an uplifting manner, saying that it is ok and that you can solve it. It also tells you that you are not the only one suffering from this fear of intimacy and that it is ok and you can do something about it.

In my opinion it is a very well written book and is worth reading for a lot of people in order to get a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them,...
Absolultey on the mark

I have only just recently begun to read this book. But already I am absolutely shocked by how on target everything it says is. As I read the pages, I find myself wondering if the author has not been observing me and taking notes. I have always held a strong fear of sexuality, and always feel guilty when I find myself watching pretty girls or getting aroused. The author's descriptions if an interior world of denial and self doubt are precisely on the mark. I have not begun to utilize any therapeutic tips offered within, but so far I am deeply impressed.

Not quite what I was expecting.
I purchased this book in hopes that it would help a friend of mine through her troubles, as she was abused in childhood and as a result she's unable to have a physical relationship with anyone.

This book seemed nice, but upon flipping through it I realized that it assumes that the reader is a man or woman in a relationship that is already having sex & doesn't find joy in it. That doesn't help my best friend, since she's NOT in a relationship with anyone and would feel left out by the book. The book wouldn't be any help for her, and ended up being a waste of my money. Why would I give her a book that isn't going to help her? Still, it did make some nice points but again... the fact that the writers are assuming that they are speaking to married or partnered men/women really alienates a large chunk of people.

Seriously, I ended up showing her the book & she herself echoed my own thoughts. It wasn't helpful to her. All of the exercises & suggestions...

If you are becoming familiar with David Deida, then this book is one good place to start, especially if you are doing so as a couple. This book describes Deida's view of masculine/feminine polarity, sexual energy, sexual desire, and more. And Deida being Deida, it is about sex and spirituality and growth. The book gives the sense that we are being offered an ancient way or yoga or art. We get the sense that Deida has learned this tantric-esque wisdom from various teachers, and now he is transmitting his knowledge to us. David is controversial, but then what innovator is not? He writes and teaches from the perspective of 20 years work with hatha yoga, pranayama, t'ai chi and Tantra. One of the things which I most like about his work is the constant emphasis on the dance of dualities, which has been a major focus of my own work for more than two decades. False dichotomies, such as good/bad, male/female, winner/loser, have, like other false beliefs, caused great sadness and frustration, and it is so important for people to know that there is another way.

Highly recommended for adults who want to heal and enrich their lives.

Just wanted to respond to these fear-arousing posts about David Deida being a "follower of a...demonically deluded cult leader". It has been a while since I have read a book regarding the lifestyle and I have become really excited about it. This book has delivered and then some. Well written and easy to follow Michael gets right to the point of the subject and keeps it going the whole way through.

I'm not in the lifestyle but I am an avid reader of the romance genre of books. Lately I have read books with the D/s or BDSM lifestyle in them and was curious what was real and what was not real. This book answered those questions and gave me knowledge of some things I did not know of. I liked the cover of the book classy and tasteful. The author was funny but came across to me as caring person. I walked away from this book feeling like I should be more tolerant and open to people's choices. The book also renewed my serving spirit to my husband of 24 years.

Found this book at just the right time
I'm new to the lifestyle, just under 3 months in to be exact. I started reading this book while playing online with the man who is now my Dom and my love. I took a chance buying this book when no-one had written any reviews about it, but the publisher write-up looked so good I had to give it a try - and I am quite glad I did. In the book, Meg, a nurse, is invited to a classroom to explain about what she calls 'body science' (reproduction). In a most gentle, sensitive, and delicate manner, she teaches the children to think about 'embarrassing' things in the way that a scientist would, then she goes on to teach about those 'embarrassing' subjects. This book is written on a very basic level, big illustrations and only a few paragraphs of text on each page, obviously written for a younger audience. The book perceptively takes into account what the children's responses and reactions may be, which makes the reader feel like they are understood, and makes them feel at ease. My 8 year old daughter understood everything and was not 'grossed out' at all, to her it was all very matter-of-fact, but my 10 year old son groaned a big 'yuck' at...
Perfect book on the facts of life for my 8 year old

This is really an extraordinarily well balanced presentation of the facts of life for an 8 or 9 year old. The characters in the book reacted exactly like my 8 year old when hearing the somewhat embarrassing (for him) facts of life. My son laughed pretty hard as the character in the book said "Yuck!" when hearing how babies are made. This book had tactful but direct illustrations and overall the book is a wonderful aide to any parent who wants to make sure their children understand the basic facts of life.

I bought this book for my 10 yr old son. I made sure I read it first then gave it to him to read. We followed with a great discussion. I had researched a lot of other books and now that I have had the book/conversation with my son I am glad I chose this book! First off, this book includes an awesome collection of interviews. I was particularly excited for to see contributions from three great sex educators, Tristan Taormino, Wendy-O Matik, and Betty Dodson, and awesome comic artist Erika Moen.

The book is broken into seven chapters. Each of these chapters contains practical advice for navigating relationships. Most of these chapters also challenge the view that relationships should all progress in the same direction, towards an exclusive permanent marriage with children.

Loving Being Single suggests that you don't need to be in a relationship to be happy. Navigating Non-Monogamy tackles the idea that exclusivity is always preferable. Staying Childless by Choice takes on the pressure for everyone to have kids. On Never Getting Married discusses the reasons for not forming a legal union. And Knowing When To Split faces how sometimes ending a relationships is the best option.

I have indeed been forging my own relationship rules for some time, but I have come up against some trying times with regards to sexism in my marriage even though my husband and I have gone to lengths to craft a meaningful, unconventional relationship according to our rules. Reading other women's very thoughtful, not-at-all-kneejerk reflections on the sexism in their relationships lifted a huge weight off my shoulders that I hadn't even realized was there. About a year ago, I stumbled onto Stefani's blog while attempting to solve a hormonal issue I was having from maintaining a strict Paleo diet. When I found out she was writing a women-specific book, I was excited to read it.

For a science-centered book, _Sexy by Nature_ is very easy to read, especially compared to other ancestral health science books like _Perfect Health Diet_. The language is plain, and there are a few diagrams when appropriate to better demonstrate concepts. I read large portions in single sittings, whereas that's usually difficult for me when the material is technical.

The book is divided into five sections, which do seem a bit disjointed (the only negative thing I can say!). The first section was a set of "Old Rules" and a new set of "Nature Rules" to replace them with. Ruper has a lot of great things to say, particularly to those who are new to the Paleo scene, or still need some convincing. Eating whole, natural foods that our bodies were designed to eat is absolutely the way to go for every aspect of health, and current scientific studies are bearing this out. As others have noted, the book could do with a great deal more practical rather than philosophical advise - I recommend It Starts With Food, if you want a more practical introduction to Paleo. For me the single most valuable aspect of this book is that it is *validating*- that I'm not the only one who has experienced lows during this "happiest" time in my life. What an amazing book!
First off, let me cut to the chase: this book has been a true gift! Two months away from my wedding and I was starting to feel miserable. Miserable? Huh? Yes, it's true. You can feel miserable right at "the happiest time of your life". Feeling sure this must mean I didn't really want to get married, I began to panic. Why all the confusion? I got this book and also 5 minutes to orgasm, but this book is great for people who have problems with orgasm in general. I found this is espesically helpful for women who haven't (or just aren't very good at) masturbating which is where a lot of young women have problems. The author is an expert and has tons of knowledge and experience helping women, plus she writes in an informal way that's fun to read. I love this book! It helped me after only the first couple chapters. It also has trouble shooting for lots of various problems, not just for newbies. If you can orgasm, but not during sex I recomend 5 mintues to orgasm, it is much more geared to that specifc problem.

Great book

This book is definitely helpful to anyone having trouble with orgasms. Most of the difficulty was in my head (upbringing, religious background, lack of knowledge). It also addresses health issues and other issues that may be affecting your orgasm or lack thereof. There are some parts in the book that are redundant, but overall this book is excellent and helped solve my problem!!

Helpful Book.

This book was helpful in helping me to overcome my orgasm difficuly. The good thing about this book is that it describes all the problems women have orgasming in depth, and instructs the reader on how to overcome these problems. My only complaint about this book is that the author feels the need to constantly remind the reader that you don't have to orgasm if you don't want to. I found that continous restatement annoying. If I didn't want to orgasm I wouldn't have bought the book.(Hence the four stars instead of five.) However, this book was very helpful to me personally and I believe that it is the only book of it's kind for helping women overcome orgasm difficulty. I would definitely recommend it.

Should Be Required Reading for Every Young Adult

This book is a MUST read. It's quick and you can easily read it in an hour and a half, but it's amazing. Once I opened it up, I couldn't put it down again.

Randy Alcorn starts out by talking about why sexual purity is important and why it matters to you and to me. He then explains Biblical principles for how to fight sexual temptation, including an excellent chapter about being radical in order to fight sexual sins. He concludes with practical guidelines about sexual temptation.

As a believer who is daily struggling with sexual temptation, I really wish someone had told me about this book back when I was in high school or middle school because it would have saved me a ton of grief later on in life. This book should be required reading for every teenager and every young adult. It's freeing, and it's life-changing.

A Necessary Resource for the subject of Sexual Purity

What a great book! It is short and to the point about sexual sin. A quick read. It discusses it in a very honest but tasteful manner. It provides plenty of scripture. It convicts the reader regardless of how much sexual sin is in their life (mental or physical) and gives practicle and biblical strategies to either avoid it all together or to combat the sin that the reader might already be ensnared in. This book is good for men AND women, high school age and above! Great resource for pastors and youth pastors to have on hand. This book has given me a realistic perspective and has helped me to understand that where it all starts is with that first thought or that first glance...and that this is where we recognize it as sin and stop the process. Life changing!

Confrontational in a good way

This is a great little book on purity. I read it in an hour and couldn't put it down. "The Purity Principle" gets "in your face" on the issue of sexual purity, speaking directly, but not inappropriately about the slippery slope that is sexual sin and practical ways to combat it. The engaging message was so vivid and powerful that I immediately ordered two additional copies so that each of my sons could have their own.

My one reservation about this book is that it does not give enough help and hope to the person who has already seriously fallen and needs help getting on the right track. I am concerned that such a person, rather than seeing the power of a gracious God to restore them, might feel that they are too far gone for a meaningful recovery after reading this book.

This book is my favorite kind of book, intellectually challenging while also attention grabbing and accessible. Basically, even if you don't know you're smart now, you will walk away feeling smart as hell. Definitely something to discuss at dinner parties, and even bars.

My favorite thing about this book is the author's use of personal stories and experiences, both her own and those she interviewed for this work. Their stories make you feel more human, increasingly "normal" and connected to the world, and intrigued by others all at once.

I would highly recommend this book for young adults and full grown adults alike. Anyone interested in sex, thinking about having sex, concerned about their sex life, studying sex, or just plain sexual ... this book is for you.

A thorough but accessible and enjoyable read about sex, identity, and society.
Not only do I really appreciate a book that avoids clichés and stereotypes, but I love that this works both for the layperson and for the academic. There were moments where I could key into my favorite theorists' ideas and clearly see where Rachel was connecting them, and other moments where I could read aloud passages to my mom (yes, seriously) and have a great conversation based off of that. Not that my mom isn't brilliant, but she's a little less obsessed with Foucault than I am.

Finally a deeper perspective
After having tried different kinds of books and therapy which mainly is focusing on the technical aspects of sex with little success or progress, I feel that this book really goes behind the technical and offers a more complete explanation as to why some people have a difficult relationship with sex.

In comparison to other books that seem to tell you that if you have difficulty with sex you must have been sexually abused as a child, this book offers a more complete analysis and makes you think of little things and details which along the way might have caused you to find sex difficult, but in an uplifting manner, saying that it is ok and that you can solve it. It also tells you that you are not the only one suffering from this fear of intimacy and that it is ok and you can do something about it.

In my opinion it is a very well written book and is worth reading for a lot of people in order to get a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them,...
Absolultey on the mark

I have only just recently begun to read this book. But already I am absolutely shocked by how on target everything it says is. As I read the pages, I find myself wondering if the author has not been observing me and taking notes. I have always held a strong fear of sexuality, and always feel guilty when I find myself watching pretty girls or getting aroused. The author's descriptions if an interior world of denial and self doubt are precisely on the mark. I have not begun to utilize any therapeutic tips offered within, but so far I am deeply impressed.

Not quite what I was expecting.
I purchased this book in hopes that it would help a friend of mine through her troubles, as she was abused in childhood and as a result she's unable to have a physical relationship with anyone.

This book seemed nice, but upon flipping through it I realized that it assumes that the reader is a man or woman in a relationship that is already having sex & doesn't find joy in it. First off, this book includes an awesome collection of interviews. I was particularly excited for to see contributions from three great sex educators, Tristan Taormino, Wendy-O Matik, and Betty Dodson, and awesome comic artist Erika Moen.

The book is broken into seven chapters. Each of these chapters contains practical advice for navigating relationships. Most of these chapters also challenge the view that relationships should all progress in the same direction, towards an exclusive permanent marriage with children.

Loving Being Single suggests that you don't need to be in a relationship to be happy. Navigating Non-Monogamy tackles the idea that exclusivity is always preferable. Staying Childless by Choice takes on the pressure for everyone to have kids. On Never Getting Married discusses the reasons for not forming a legal union. And Knowing When To Split faces how sometimes ending a relationships is the best option.

Two chapters are a bit different...
A breath of fresh air

Because it's not clear from my user name, I'm a woman. Born in 1969, for age perspective relative to the various waves of feminism. I have indeed been forging my own relationship rules for some time, but I have come up against some trying times with regards to sexism in my marriage even though my husband and I have gone to lengths to craft a meaningful, unconventional relationship according to our rules. Reading other women's very thoughtful, not-at-all-kneejerk reflections on the sexism in their relationships lifted a huge weight off my shoulders that I hadn't even realized was there. I'm very grateful for this book, typos notwithstanding.
