It's become the norm to complain that we're always tired. In Dr. Holly Phi llips' Exhaustion Solution, Dr. Holly aims to end this accepted state of exhaustion and send a message to readers that they do not have to be drained of energy just because they have a demanding job, a family, or an active social life--or all three. She also explains the insidious nature of fatigue, educating readers on the havoc that persistent tiredness wreaks on the body and mind, from weight gain and cognitive impairment to even a higher risk of heart attack and stroke.

Dr. Holly's passion for the subject stems from the quest to cure her own constant weariness--which she struggled with for more than 20 years--as well as the countless complaints of chronic tiredness she hears from patients each day in her internal medicine practice. While a few readers might find a link between their fatigue and a medical condition such as chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia, Dr. Holly knows that many more will discover that diet, exercise, and sleep habits are contributing to their lack of energy.

This guide will help readers understand their exhaustion, rule out any underlying illnesses, correct any allergies or hormonal issues that may be contributing to extreme tiredness, and incorporate lifestyle factors and alternative therapies that will improve overall energy. Clear, comprehensive, and practical, Dr. Holly Phillips' Exhaustion Solution shines a bright light on an issue many people have simply accepted--but that they don't have to any longer.

Review :
WARNING - gender-specific
I bought this after seeing a TV news segment with the author; neither on TV nor on Amazon's description does it mention that when you start reading, it's solely discussing women's fatigue (and in the word "women" present in about 1/2 of all sentences) Uh, men get tired too. I'm only partway into the book, may edit the review if the latter parts are different.

EDIT: I got through about 150 pages and gave up; no improvement. Review remains at two stars.

Basically: Eat right, exercise right, get some sleep, get checked out for any diseases. There -- I saved you eighteen dollars.

Not so much for guys
I bought this book after hearing the author on TV. I did not realize it is intended for female readers. I read it anyway and did get some value from it (I am a guy). I bought another copy for my wife and she was delighted. If you have problems with finding enough energy to get through the day you may profit from reading this book.

Seems like it really might help
Although the book addresses women younger than I with husband, children and job, I still have found things to try as I've read. I'm not finished yet, but I've dropped a couple prescription and so far no harm but monitoring and I'm adding some food to my menu all to try her early ideas. I'm purposely reading slowly so I don't jump into too many changes too quickly. It's easy to recognize the areas that do not pertain to you individually and you can scan or even skip if you know it doesn't pertain. Otherwise, it's easy and interesting reading.

CrossFit celebrity Christmas Abbott shows how to attain the body of your dreams with a targeted eating strategy and total-body workout plan that will whip glutes and hips—and every problem area—into top shape.

As a formerly “skinny fat” woman, Christmas Abbott knows what real women need to get the butt and body of their dreams. In The Badass Body Diet, she dispels the myth of the health benefits of a “pear shape” body, teaches readers how to spot-reduce excess fat with targeted meal plans and recipes that zap cellulite, and galvanizes them with a quick and simple workout plan for a toned butt—the key to total body fitness.

Your “glutes” (the technical term for booty) are the body’s largest and most powerful muscle group—and one of the most beautiful—but they can go dormant, flat, and flabby. Packed with essential information, and inspirational before-and-after photos of her clients, The Badass Body Diet shows how to whip that butt into shape and provides essential information on how to:

  • Select essential “booty foods”—the right proteins, fats, and carbs
  • Experience a total body workout with an easy-to-follow, powerful exercise program
  • Improve posture and functional mobility and enhance overall health
  • Target cellulite through diet, workout strategies, and other proven tips
  • And much more.

Unlike most “one approach fits all” diet and exercise books, The Badass Body Diet identifies the three types of dieters that Christmas has discovered working with hundreds of clients at her CrossFit gyms—Modifiers, Gainers, and Maintainers—and tailors her approach to each, providing specific goals for maximum results. Stop obsessing about a flat belly, Christmas advises. A Badass Body is a birthright, and it starts at the bottom—with a trim and tight tush.

Review :
Dangerous calorie intakes, please take Abbott's advice with a grain of salt (not too much because you might get fat)
I would be very weary of taking the food advice in this book and am honestly confused how Christmas herself is able to make any muscle gains at all if she follows her own advice in this book. I was pretty excited reading through the beginning but when I finally got to the body analyzing and meal planning, I was bewildered. Just an example, lunch, using 3 "bricks" comes out to: 2.5oz chicken breast, 2 cups of broccoli & carrots medley and 1/8 an avocado = 21 g protein, 15g carbs, 4.5g fat. Protein and carbs are about 4 calories per gram and fat 9 calories per gram. That lunch is 184 calories. The whole day in that sample came to 678.5 calories. Uhhhhh what? That was supposedly for a Power Frame (5'7" - 5'10" in height) in the "Maintain" realm -- but I believe that was one of many errors/typos I found in the first few chapters (the total for the day was 11 "bricks" when a Maintainer Power Frame needed 13-15 bricks according to her chart, and the bricks...
Three Stars
Typos! I could have proofed this for her.

bad ass editing
I love Christmas Abbott. She's fun, she's cute, she's Def got a badass body. I really like this book so far but I'm finding it hard to get through as there are so many editing errors! Christmas, honey, fire your editing team, they did a bad ass job. :(
