Review :
Perfect gift!
I purchased several of these as gifts for new moms because I think this book is fun to read, quick and easy to fill out, and the perfect keepsake to have later on. This book is very different from the other baby book I have seen.

My children are 14 and 17 now, but when they were born I received baby books to record milestones such as, when they rolled over, sat up, first tooth, etc. But now, when I look back at those books I see that they did not lead me to record the things I want to remember and share with my children. "When We Became Three" captures both mom and dad's feelings as well as milestones. My kids are always asking me for stories from when they were little and even though I remember thinking that I would never forget the cute things they did and said and how I felt, I did forget. If I had this book, I would have all those treasured stories to share with them.

The book is also very funny and clever with its mad libs type fill in the...
Making Memories and Laughing out Loud for Years to Come
This book is great – really original! It has lots of creative sections that you don’t really see in other memory books. It also uses many well thought out and funny checklists that make it easy for Mom and Dad to fill out. I gave this to a friend who recently had a baby. She said she had another memory book, but she actually fills out “When We Became Three” because of the checklists. She can fit it into her busy schedule. She also said she always laughs out loud when reading the checklists. Another good thing abut this memory book is it has just the type of information that my kids will want to know about when they’re all grown up. I can picture us sitting together and looking through it and talking about all these amazing memories together.

PERFECT BOOK for the expectant mother!
This is what the author has to say about this book:
"...low-maintenance and pressure free, wise yet whimsical way to capture all the milestones and special moments of your own special family."

I LOVE that! Who has time these days for elaborate anymore?

I also LOVE that the first thing this book has you record is how you and your spouse met...with a "fill in the blanks!" What a GREAT keepsake for baby!

You will then go on to write about how you felt when you found out you were expecting and how your spouse felt.

There is a place to tell about your cravings and "which of the seven pregnant dwarfs were you" :)

* Adventures of the expectant parents
* Making space for baby
* Gender predictions
* Places for pictures
* Games to assign baby duties
* And a first letter to baby

All this BEFORE the baby even comes...

Then you have spaces and fill-ins for:...

Review :
Much better
Excelsior just updated their textbooks and started using this one in place of the Maternity/Peds book they had before. I was SO happy about this. This book is way better, and I haven't found any grammar or spelling errors yet. (The last book was so full of them that I refused to read it until they updated.) It also has better visual aids inside, and it can be used with The Point, which is one of my favorite things about it.

Long winded author who forgets what she said in the Last Chapter
The book keeps repeating the same information over and over and... You get my point. Some of it is contradictory for example in chapter 12 it lists Colace as a pregnancy Class C drug but in Chapter 13 it says Colace is safe to take with no teratogenic effects throught pregnancy. I thought maybe it was me so I actually looked up both pages and read one with the other and it absolutely cotridicts itself. I believe the authors wrote more words to make themselves appear more scholarly. If they would have put down their pens for a minute the book would be half as thick. If you don't absolutely need it for class, don't buy it!!!!!!

... be very helpful for taking notes but was not good in terms of practice questions
I found this book to be very helpful for taking notes but was not good in terms of practice questions. It has a wide variety of colorful illustrations and tables that went along with the readings that helped out a lot, especially if you are a visual learner and helped organize the information in a different way. This book was well organized according to topics and it was easy to find content unlike some books that make you search through the entire book. This book was very easy to read and understand and summed up the material nicely instead of dragging it out. This book also had case studies that went along with each chapter so as you were reading over the material you could also follow along with the case study. This was nice because it provides examples written out how it actually would be in real life and helps you to relate a diagnosis with certain symptoms. Another thing that I really about this book was that it gave examples on good communication versus bad communication. It...

Is the Love You're Giving What Your Child Is Receiving?
Chapman, with co-writer Ross Campbell, M.D., have written The Five Love Languages Of Children, which applies the love language theory to children. How can you tell your child's main love language? Chapman offers these suggestions:
1. Observe how your child expresses love to you.
Chapman and Campbell: Watch your child; he may well be speaking his own language. This is particularly true of a young child, who is very likely to express love to you in the language he desires most to receive.
I've seen this with my own 4 1/2 year old. Noah will come up to me or my husband, and try to engage us in a wrestling match. Or he'll pat our arms, give us a hug, etc. He has shown us that his main love language is that of Physical Touch!
2. Observe how your child expresses love to others.
If you notice your child making crafts for relatives, or wanting to take presents to classmates or teacher, this may indicate that her primary love language is Gifts.
3. Listen to what...
Miracle balm for your family life
In his previous book "The Five Love Languages," best-selling author Gary Chapman contends that there are five major methods of love-giving ("love languages"), and each person responds differently to each type. Each person also "speaks" a primary love language, and responds strongly to one of the types of love-giving. Chapman identifies these love languages as: physical touch, gifts, quality time, acts of service, and words of affirmation. In order to best make someone feel loved, you must "speak" their primary love language to them.
In this book, Chapman is teamed up with best-selling author Ross Campbell, who has written some very successful books on relationships with children. The premise of this book is that the love languages are not only applicable to the adults in your life, but to your children as well, and can in fact have a major effect on their behavior and happiness.
The book begins with a general discussion of love...
Adds another dimension to communicating effectively
This outstanding book addresses how each child (adults as well) expresses and receives love best through one of five primary "languages" - quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, or physical touch. Although children need to be spoken to in each of these love languages, there's one love language that meets their deepest emotional needs and should be used often with them (and authors caution how you use that language for discipline). The information in this book complements books that address communicating with children based on their temperament (such as "Raising your Spirited Child" and "Kids, Parents, and Power Struggles" by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka). I also appreciate that the author included an informative chapter on "love languages in marriage", instead of just a one-liner encouraging readers to buy his book dedicated to that subject.
Bottom line - Even if you've read tons of parenting books, you will truly learn...
